New Managers
The RML is a 24-team league (not just an All-Star league) with a long history, dating back to 1978 when the league was all cards/dice and play-by-mail.
We don't mandate netplay, but some teams prefer it and some teams don't do it at all. CMs (computer managers) with optional basic instructions are used if teams aren't netplaying.
We have a money system with structured payrolls based (mainly) upon seniority. This includes contracts up to 5 years for veteran players. We have 30 player Major League rosters.
We have a minor league system with up to 45 non-carded players (minor leaguers, college/high schoolers, foreign players, your grandchildren, etc)… basically any player not carded for the current season.
Carded Players:
- Hitters with at least 100 AB.
- Pitchers who reach any of these: 10 starts, 30 games or 60 innings.
We have several drafts each year.
Free Agent Draft:
- Includes players offered them less than their protected rate during payroll submission.
Unowned Player Draft:
- Includes players not currently owned who happen to get carded and players who were cut at payroll submission time due to their salary requirements being too high for their performance.
Minor League Draft:
- Includes all non-carded players as described above.
Waiver Draft:
- The final draft before the season starts. It includes any players that made it through the Free Agent and Unowned Player Drafts. This is where you can get some roster fillers at league minimum salaries.
We have 4 trading periods per season.
So if you'd like to join a very stable, long-lasting, Strat-based, "better than fantasy baseball" league, the RML would be a great fit for you.
